New security device locks down 'Net connected apps
Teros, formerly Stratum8 Networks Inc., on Tuesday announced version 2.0 of its Teros-100 Application Protection System (APS), a security appliance designed to protect applications connected to the Internet against cyberattacks.
The Teros-100 comes in a 1U (1.75 inches or 4.4 centimeters) rack-mountable box. It is meant to cover security voids left by firewalls and intrusion detection systems. The device scans traffic going in and out of specific applications and Web servers running in the demilitarized zone (DMZ), Teros said in a statement.
The device is designed to stop sensitive data, such as credit card numbers, from leaving applications to the public Internet, can prevent Web site defacements by blocking changes on specific pages and can be used to enforce distinct password policies, Teros said.
The Teros-100 APS is the first in a series of products from Santa Clara, California, Teros. The security device is available now worldwide, pricing starts at US$25,000.
