RSA unveils three new products at its show
Not content just to host the event that bears its name, RSA Security Inc. made three product announcements at the RSA Conference 2002. They are a new version of its ClearTrust Web access management software, new software that helps developers boost security on handheld computers and other mobile devices, and a new electronic signature application for the Web.
ClearTrust 4.7, an update to RSA's Web access management software, adds a data abstraction layer designed to allow the software to integrate more easily with a company's existing data sources, according to a statement from RSA. Part of that integration includes native support for LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), the company said.
The new version also tightens integration with other RSA products. ClearTrust 4.7 will be available within 45 days and is priced on a per-user basis, with a one-user license running at US$27, a price that drops for volume purchases, said John Worrall, vice president of product management at RSA.
In an effort to help developers beef up security for PDAs (personal digital assistants), mobile phones and other wireless devices, RSA also announced the BSafe Micro Edition product line. It consists of BSafe SSL-C Micro Edition, BSafe Cert-C Micro Edition and BSafe Crypto-C Micro Edition, according to a statement. Taken together, the products will help developers build mobile and wireless applications that can support digital payment, signing and identity, signed code and other security features, RSA said. The software will be available within 60 days; pricing will vary based on royalties and use, according to Worrall.
Another new product, Keon e-Sign, will enable Web forms to be signed digitally through a Web browser plug-in, according to RSA. The software aims to let businesses move transactions that require a physical signature online and still make them legally binding, the company said. Keon e-Sign will be available within 30 days priced on a per-user basis; exact terms were not immediately available.
RSA also announced the addition of 13 companies to its ClearTrust Ready partner program. The program ensures interoperability between products from RSA and from its partners. The new members include BEA Systems Inc., Business Layers Inc., Oracle Corp., Siebel Systems Inc., and Waveset Technologies Inc.
