Microsoft Corp. won't be alone in seeking the attention of technology buyers at Tech Ed next week. Several vendors are taking advantage of the technical education event in San Diego to detail new or updated products.
Announcements planned for the sold-out event include:
-- Celestix Networks Inc. plans to unveil its ISA3000 appliance based on Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004, which will also debut at Tech Ed. The ISA3000 is a network and application layer firewall, VPN (virtual private network) and Web caching appliance.
-- PolyServe Inc. is planning to announce availability of its clustering software for Windows. Previously the Beaverton, Oregon, company offered its flagship Matrix Server product only for Red Hat Inc.'s Linux and Novell Inc.'s SuSE Linux.
-- Security vendor Shavlik Technologies LLC will announce commercial availability of a new, agent-based patch management tool.
-- Empirix Inc., a provider of testing and monitoring tools, plans to launch version 7.0 of its e-TEST suite for automated functional, regression and load testing.
-- PKWARE Inc. is scheduled to announce a series of toolkits that will allow commercial and custom software developers to embed compression and strong security into their products.
-- Security software vendor Sybari Software Inc. plans to make several candidate release announcements as well as a new partner announcement.
-- Configuresoft Inc. will announce Enterprise Configuration Manager for Microsoft's Systems Management Server (SMS), providing centralized assessment, verification and control of system configurations for large SMS infrastructures.
-- RSA Security Inc. is planning to make an announcement with IBM Corp. and Microsoft about Web services security specification interoperability. Additionally, RSA will show its newest product, the RSA Federated Identity Manager, to illustrate how its products work with the WS-Federation & WS-Security specifications.
-- Ivis Technologies plans to unveil XBoost. The new product bridges the company's JBoost and netBoost infrastructure applications and acts as a conduit between .Net users and Java users. XBoost promises to increase application development efficiency. It also manages security and enhances presentation look and feel.
-- Management software vendor AutoProf will use Tech Ed to introduce new versions of its Policy Maker Professional and Policy Maker Software Update products. Policy Maker Professional will add several new extensions to Microsoft's Group Policy Management Console and Policy Maker Software Update will add one for patch management.
-- Digital rights management specialist Authentica Inc. will detail its Windows Rights Management Services integration initiatives.
-- Advanced Systems Concepts Inc. is planning to announce version 5.0 of its ActiveBatch product. ActiveBatch is a cross-platform job scheduling and management application. The update offers an improved user interface and a new planning tool.
