IBM's ISS blasts security rival Trend Micro over bugs
In an unusual move, a security company owned by IBM has publicly blasted a rival for not patching reported bugs in its enterprise-grade, server-side antivirus software.
Far Too Many Trojans!
If you have TrendMicro Internet Security Pro and have done a scan to find that you have far too many TROJ_Generic and/or TROJ_Generic.adv files in your quarantine - and you look at the list finding Windows Systems files, you DO NOT have a Trojan in your computer system. This is a newly discovered problem in TrendMIcro pattern file updates and you need to fix the problem.
Trend Micro: Barracuda suit not about open source
Trend Micro may have received more than it bargained for in its software patent dispute with rival Barracuda Networks. In the past few months Barracuda's cause has been taken up by free software advocates, who see Trend Micro's patent claims as a threat to the open-source ClamAV antivirus project. That's because Barracuda uses ClamAV to be able to scan for viruses at the "gateway," where a local area network connects to the Internet. Trend Micro says it owns the technology behind this -- thanks to a patent it calls the "600" patent.
