Is Windows Vista Like Windows 2000 or Windows ME?

Windows ME was the last gasp of the Windows 9x model. It came out seven months after Windows 2000, but failed miserably while Windows 2000 provided a nice upgrade from Windows 98, and a quick stepping stone to Windows XP, Microsoft's most popular and well received OS ever.

Pirates prefer Windows XP over Vista, says Microsoft

Software counterfeiters pass on Windows Vista and instead prefer to pirate Windows XP, a Microsoft Corp. attorney said Tuesday, outlining a practice that tracks with the leanings of many of the company's customers.

Windows XP users get six more months

Microsoft Corp. has thrown another lifeline to Windows XP users, extending by six months its cutoff date for stopping shipments of the seven-year-old operating system to PC vendors.
